The first broadband business support event for Northern Lincolnshire will be held next month.

The free event for Small and Medium Enterprises is the first of a series of events run by North Lincolnshire Council as part of a package of support on offer to local businesses.

The event is being held at the Baths Hall, Doncaster Road, Scunthorpe on 23 May and runs from 9am until 1pm.

There’s never been a better time to look at exporting. With growth from the recent recession
predicted to be slow and with some economies still struggling, we need to look where the
growth is.

Are You Ready to Export will review the steps you need to take to consider exporting. It will challenge your perceptions of exporting and outline both the benefits and potential pitfalls as well as provide you the opportunity to review your business and its ability to take advantage of export markets.

Various Humber businesses will share their successes, providing inspiration to those looking to start or grow their business.

David Fishwick, entrepreneur and largest supplier of Minibuses in the UK opened Burnley Savings and Loans Ltd officially in September 2011 under the slogan “Bank of Dave.” David decided that if the banks weren’t helping ordinary people start up in business, then he would. David went on to successfully build his business providing a range of finance options.

There will be a showcase of the support available to businesses from various organisations and funding streams including Regional Growth Fund, MAS, Growth Accelerator, UKTI and many more.

Hull City Council are currently in the process of organising a Hull and Humber Ports trade visit to Rotterdam on 17 & 18 June 2013 (actual day in Rotterdam). 

The Port of Rotterdam and Rotterdam Port Promotion Council are developing the visit itinerary, to include meetings with the Rotterdam Port Authority, visit to Maasvlakte 2 (the ports largest land reclamation project for the development of containerised shipping, which is due to open shortly) as well as hosting a Hull and Humber Ports dinner on the evening of 17^th June.  Members of the Hull and Humber delegation will have the opportunity to invite their Dutch counter parts and customers to attend the dinner.

Travel will be via P&O Ferries on 16^th June (1800hrs Hull to Rotterdam) and 18^th June (1800hrs Rotterdam to Hull).

UK Export Finance (UKEF) is the UK’s export credit agency and is the trading name of the Export Credits Guarantee Department (ECGD). It plays an important role in supporting the Government’s export strategy by providing assistance to exporters of all size, principally in the form of insurance policies and guarantees on bank loans.

This interactive event aims to highlight some of the various options available to UK exporters to help maximise their potential.

This event is free, at a great venue so come along and join us on the day.

AREVA Wind is a leading supplier of offshore wind turbines in the 5MW+ market segment.  This size of wind turbine is expected to be in great demand for the UK Round 3 and Scottish Territorial Waters offshore wind turbine markets.  Larger sized wind turbines and greater distances from shore will create new challenges in the supply of offshore vessel services from transportation, installation and commissioning through to service and maintenance.

AREVA would like to meet companies who either are, or can, contribute to the offshore wind installation and offshore service sector to help form our strategy for installation and service works and create relationships to take to clients.  The nature of the UK Round 3 projects lends themselves to long term partnerships, which take time to develop.  However, delegates should be aware that it may be some time before orders can be placed.  AREVA will hold a regional event on 2^nd July and would like to invite some companies to attend the event, whilst others may be invited to a 15 minute one to one meeting with AREVA’s Project Management or Service Team.  AREVA advise potential attendees to review the information on www.areva-wind.com prior to attending the event.
